August 23, 2018Reviewer: James in Maryland* This mix made very high quality ice cream which makes sense because most of the ingredients in the instructions are the ingredients for high quality ice cream which are basically cream, sweetener and vanilla extract along with flavoring like cocoa. LC Foods replaced some of the higher carb dairy in regular ice cream with some fiber and water.
I made the ice cream per the directions using a blender to mix the ingredients and my $50 ice cream maker and the chocolate ice cream was delicious! I noticed a slightly more icy texture than regular ice cream due to the use of water and fiber in place of whole milk, but still very good ice cream. I can't say how the results would be using the instructions without an ice cream maker.
I removed a star because this product does not make 1/2 gallon of ice cream. You just have to add up the liquid in the ingredients to see that. I got about 1 quart of ice cream when I made it.This review is specific to Ice Cream Mix, Chocolate
February 26, 2018Reviewer: Judy in Pennsylvania* I made this according to the directions but it did not turn out at all!!!! It was very watery and grainy. Did not work at all, will not buy again! This review is specific to Ice Cream Mix, Chocolate
August 29, 2016Reviewer: Doreen in Texas* This is the completion on my earlier review of LC Foods Vanilla Ice Cream Mix. I had said that after mixing the ingredients together following the instructions exactly, I ended up with large clumps floating on top of the liquid. They looked like clumps of fat. After mixing again with a hand mixer, I still couldn't get the lumps to mix in. So I put it into the freezer as instructed hoping that after it came out of the ice cream maker that I would have ice cream. Not a chance! I put the lumpy mess into my ice cream maker and within 5 minutes the bowl stopped turning and the machine was struggling. The clumps were preventing it from turning. I turned it off so the motor wouldn't burn out. Needless to say, I had no ice cream after all of my efforts. If anybody else is having this problem and have resolved it, please put in a review with that solution. I now have three more packages of ice cream mix that will go to waster otherwise. This review is specific to Ice Cream Mix, Vanilla

2 of 2 people found the following review helpfulAugust 15, 2012Reviewer: John in New York* Bought this on a whim since I was already ordering. IF the $8 (on sale) price made 1 half gallon (note to LC - 1 half gallon = 2 quarts) then this would be cost effective vs. buying a very satisfactory low carb ice cream from my local freezer case a pint at a time. Unfortunately, this mix makes about a quart max even when using our sophisticated home ice cream maker. The taste is OK, but I won't be ordering again. I guess if your local grocery only sells the 'no sugar added' varieties this might appeal, but be forewarned that your yield will be 1 qt not 1 half gallon as stated on the label.
